Notice: Due to changes in the Facebook API, we are no longer able to import events in an efficient way. This was how most of our listings were sourced, so it results in a much less populated calendar. Since Facebook is still tweaking its API, we are waiting to see if this will be fixed before seeking other solutions. We apologize for any inconvenience. More info.

Cuba is a beautiful temperate island just 90 miles from the US, yet many citizens are unaware of its people, culture or accomplishments, or they remailn hostile based on antiquated cold war politics. With Cuba relations thawing in the past two years, it’s time to learn more, or even visit to learn the facts for our selves.
Amnesty joins other groups to organize this multi-media program on the evolving story of US-Cuba relations, humanitarian efforts, educational projects, and US government/military policy towards the country.
The panel will include Banbose Shango, co-chair of the National Network on Cuba; James Branum, Executive Director of the Center for Conscience in Action and Director of Broad Spectrum Radio; and Camille Landry, owner of Nappy Roots Books. Rena Guay of Amnesty OKC will moderate.
Mr. Branum traveled to Cuba in the Fall of 2016 and Mr. Shango (who has visited several times) and Ms. Landry will have just returned from the island in October. Considerable research and investigation by all three panalists, along with first hand experience, photos and video will contribute to the presentation and discussion.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be encouraged to support the participating organizations.
