Immigration: Know Your Rights Workshop

We are building a Sanctuary Coalition in Norman comprised of churches, social action gorups, citizens and immigrants who wil ork together to support undocumented immigrants suffering under changes to U.S. immigraton policies.

Workshop activities include:
*Sharing stories and meeting over punc and finger foods
*Learning about immigrants’ rights under current Oklahoma and Federal law
*Accesssing information about immigration attorneys
*Downloading a phone app that instantly informs families, friends and protesters when ICE appears at the door
*Writing letters to state and federal representatives denouncing private detention centers for detaining immigrants
*Compiling a “safe sanctuary spaces” call list for those in need
*Meeting representatives from DAOK and United We Stand, immigrant support groups active in the state
*Starting the process of learning what undocumented immigrants need in our town and how to fill those needs
